Women’s Perspectives in Arts Administration: The Past, Present and Future of Scholarship

  • University of Kentucky, Gatton Student Center 160 Avenue of Champions Lexington, KY (map)

In our inaugural symposium, Women’s Perspectives in Arts Administration will celebrate the contributions of women-identifying scholars in the interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary field of arts administration. We are bringing together an intergenerational group of women scholars, from undergraduate students to emeritus professors into a one-day symposium themed: The Past, Present, and Future of Scholarship.

Hosted by the Department of Arts Administration at the University of Kentucky, this first-of-its-kind symposium will take place as an adjoining day of activities the day before the Social Theory, Politics & the Arts Conference. We are embracing an ‘unconference’ method of participant-driven engagement, and our symposium activities involve panel discussions, workshops, and interactive plenaries, all of which will be documented as oral histories of our burgeoning field from the women who helped create and establish it and the women who are continuing to build and innovate it.
