Creative Social Entrepreneuring as Creative Emancipation

The purpose of this paper is to explore the practice of creative social entrepreneuring as a vehicle for creative emancipation. The main research question asks how the knowledge and practice of entrepreneuring intersects with creative practice, work, and labor, especially for marginalized artists and creative practitioners. This study contributes to entrepreneurship and creative industries literature highlighting the actions of entrepreneurship in connection with issues of freedom, emancipation, and ethics (Rindova, Barry & Ketchen 2009; Al-Dajani et al. 2015; Nordstrom, McKeever & Anderson 2020), as well as literature highlighting notions of activism and liminality in forms of creative entrepreneurship (Dey & Mason 2017; Garcia-Lorenzo et al. 2017).
